Wednesday, October 7 is International Walk and Roll to School Day! Obviously things look a little bit different this year, when students might be walking from their bedrooms to the kitchen table for school. However, we still want to encourage students to move and be healthy, so here are some ways that we will be celebrating.
- Official Walk and Roll stickers will be available to pick up with your Grab and Go meals on Wednesday, October 7.
- We will have a weeklong activity challenge! To enter, write down each day what you do for physical activity, and for how long. Your goal is to do at least 20 minutes of physical activity per day on at least 3 days, from Sunday October 4 through Saturday October 10. Then, at the end of the week, you can take a picture of your written log and email it to Mrs. McDade at firstname.lastname@example.org, or text it to (401) 227-7337 (make sure your full name is on it). We will have a drawing for prizes, including reflective shoelaces and comic books. Entries will be due by midnight on Monday, October 12.
- We will also have a schoolwide challenge! If we get at least 100 students entering the activity challenge above, our principal, Mrs. Schauer will make a video of herself doing Fortnite dances, which we will post on the internet for you.
If you would like to print out an activity challenge tracking sheet, you can download one here. But you can also just write down your activities on any piece of paper, or keep track in a Google Doc, or however you want to do it. Just make sure you put your full name and grade on it before you turn it in. And if you can’t take a picture of your tracking sheet, you can definitely just type what you did each day into an email or text message. We are flexible! Go Vikings!
