Dear Families,

This will be our last VOV of 2020-21! I can’t believe the end of the year is almost here. But school fun doesn’t have to stop here! Did you know that this summer David Douglas will be offering a 16-day FREE IN-PERSON summer learning program for students at VP!! The purpose is to continue academic learning through fun hands-on activities. COVID safety guidelines will be followed. The dates for this program will be July 12-August 5, and the program will run Monday-Thursday from 8:45-1:15. This program is open to students currently in grades K, 2, 3, and 4 (1st has filled up!). Class sizes will be limited to 15 to 18 students, and there will be one class per grade. Slots are filling up–register today! Our last PTO meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, June 9, at 6pm on Zoom.

The PTO is also looking for a leadership committee for the 2021-22 school year! Many hands make light work, and we’d love a group of caregivers who want to be involved and do fun things for this wonderful school. If you are interested, please email us at venturaparkpto@gmail.com.


Library book checkout has ended for this school year. Please be sure to return all books ASAP. You can still use Sora to check out e-books all summer!


How do we say goodbye to our fabulous 5th graders? Well, we throw you a parking lot party, of course!

Please consider rolling on thru the Ventura Park Parking Lot on Tuesday, June 15th from 3:15 to 3:45.

You can ride your bike, scooter or skateboard, have a family member drive you, or walk (safely) through our bus lane. VP staff will be there to direct traffic, cheer you on and send you on your way with a little token of our appreciation for you.

**This is a “moving thru” celebration as folks will be encouraged to move on thru and not stay to hang out.

*Masks are still required for students and adults on campus. Thank you for adhering to these safety protocols.


Children will meet with classroom teacher, make new friends, and practice more kinder learning. This program is taught by David Douglas School District teachers. The class will have a teacher and an instructional assistant. Class sizes will be limited. Students will follow covid safety measures, including wearing masks and maintaining safe distances.

Hello VP families,

I hope you are well as we get closer to summer! I wanted to let you know that I will be leaving my role as SUN Site Manager at Ventura Park. I have taken a job working with Oregon Department of Education. It has been an honor to work with the students, families and staff at VP and I will cherish my time here always.

Meal distribution at Ventura Park will continue through the last dayof school, June 17. In-person students will receive meals to take home, and CDL students can pick up meals from 8-8:30 a.m.

The last bus stop meal distribution will be on Friday, June 11 (11:50-12:50)

Summer meals will be available at Ventura Park Elementary from 10:00-11:00 a.m. beginning on Friday, June 18, and continuing Monday-Friday through September 3 (no service on Monday, July 5). These meals are free for all children ages 1-18.


We will be collecting ALL student chromebooks on June 17 and 18; students will not be able to keep chromebooks over the summer this year.

Please plan to return your child’s chromebook to VP on either June 17 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. or on June 18 from 8:00-3:30 p.m. If you are unable to be here at these times, please contact our office.


Boys Basketball

The high school boys basketball program will be having a youth summer boys basketball camp.

Who: For boys 2nd-10th grade

When: June 21st-24th, Monday-Thursday

Time: 9am-12pm

Where: High school north gym (1001 SE 135th Ave)

Cost: $50 cash/check if registration form paid/mailed in advance – $60 if pay at the door – No credit cards accepted. Registration forms available at school/ by mail/ food pantry pick up
