2021-2022
As part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of the federal and state Title I programs, each school district must publish, share and maintain its parent involvement policies with parents of students that participate in the local Title I reading program.
A strong partnership between the school and home is essential if a quality educational program is to be provided to all students. All staff of Ventura Park believes that through home, school, and community involvement, we can create a positive environment conducive for parents to be actively involved in their child’s education.
Criteria: Inform the parents about criteria for student selection, student progress, and their child’s individual program.
- Inform parents that all students are eligible to receive Title I services, but those students who are performing significantly below grade level in reading may be given supplemental instruction.
- Explain that the assessment procedure, and each child’s performance on that assessment, may or may not identify him/her for Title I support.
- Share information about the child’s progress during regular scheduled conferences.
Suggestions/Recommendations: Parents will be given the opportunity to make suggestions about the Title I program during parent engagement events including:
- PTO
- Annual Title I Meeting
- Family Engagement Events
- Fall/Spring Conferences
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact your child’s classroom teacher, the Title I teacher, or the principal.
This parent involvement policy is reviewed annually for content and effectiveness by our Site Council. If necessary, revisions are made based on the information received from parent input.
Sincerely,
Sadie Faber
